And may I remind you that this is completely subjective and depends upon the specific criteria
for ranking. Well, let’s get it on. What are the top 10 video games in Japan? Number one,
Super Mario. Super Mario, which came from Nintendo, is an iconic platformer, revolutionized,
and it’s a game. It revolutionized the gaming industry and it is a timeless classic, beloved
by the gamers worldwide. It introduced the ever popular Mario and Luigi, simple, yet addictive
gameplay, and of course, that catchy music that continues to be instantly recognizable. I could
go out there and tell you if this is music from Mario or not. And number two, the legend of Zelda
tears of the kingdom. The latest installment in the critically acclaimed Zelda series in 2023
on the console Nintendo continues the tradition of captivating players with its open world
exploration, engaging puzzles, an epic storyline. This entry expands upon the world introduced in
the breadth of the wild, offering players new abilities and challenges to overcome.
At number three, Pokemon Red and Green. Introduced in 1996 on Nintendo, Pokemon is a cultural
phenomena and these initial gameboy titles sparked a monster collecting craze that continues to
thrive today. The concept of capturing, training, battling, these adorable creatures who have unique
abilities, it actually resonated with the gamers around the world and the series has grown into a
multimedia juggernaut, encompassing new games, anime movies, and merchandise.
Number four, my favorite Street Fighter II 1991 made by Capcom. This is a legendary fighting game
and it established the fighting game genre as we know it today, offering competitive head-to-head
battles with a diverse cast of characters, Street Fighter II introduced features that became staples
in the genre including special moves and the combos, Hadookim Baby and character selection.
My favorite of them was Chun-Li and it remains a popular choice for competitive play and of course
casual fun. Number five, Dark Souls. I know it sounds scary, spooky but in 2009,
built by From Software, this challenging action RPG introduced the concept of
Soulsborne Games, renowned for their unforgiving difficulty and rewarding gameplay.
The players actually navigate a hauntingly but beautiful world filled with formidable enemies
and a cryptic lore, requiring strategic thinking and perseverance to overcome these amazing obstacles.
Dark Souls successfully spawned a franchise of acclaimed titles and countless imitators.
Number six, Metal Gear Solid in 1998, built by Konami. This innovative, stealth action game
redefined cinematech storytelling in video games with its immersive narrative and a blend of action
and espionage. Players take on the role of solid snake, the main character, a special forces
operative tasked with infiltrating heavily guarded facilities and completed covert missions,
as if you are this cool character in a video game. Metal Gear Solid’s blend of action,
stealth and espionage continues to influence game designs. Even today, imagine how many years
it has been, yes, 26 years. And number seven, another game from Mario came Super Mario 64 in
1996 by the same Nintendo. And of course, groundbreaking 3D platformer set the standard for 3D gaming
with its innovative controls and wide open environments. Mario transitioned from a 2D side
scrolling to a fully 3D world, allowing players to explore expansive levels with freedom and
collect hidden secrets. Super Mario 64’s influence can be seen in countless 3D platformers that followed.
Number eight, Final Fantasy, 1997 made by Square Enix. This iconic RPG is considered one of the
greatest games ever made, praised for its memorable characters, epic story and innovative
material gameplay system. Final Fantasy 7 introduced a unique turn based combat system where players
equip characters with material to cast builds and abilities. The game story tackle scenes of
environmentalism, corporate greed and rebellion, resonating with players and solidifying its place
in the RPG history. And number nine, Splatoon 3, 2022 on Nintendo. This vibrant third person shooter
features unique team based battles where players use ink splattering weapons to paint the map
and splat their opponents. Splatoon 3 built upon the success of its predecessors, offering new
stages, weapons and gameplay mechanics that continue to captivate players online. And in at number 10,
Monster Hunter Rise, 2021 by Capcom. This action RPG emphasizes cooperative hunting of massive
monsters. Players who are allowed to choose from various weapons and their types each with unique
playstyles and work together to take down these formidable creatures, of course, monsters. Monster
